Stamford Tennis Club

Stamford Tennis Club

Overview:

Stamford Tennis Club are one of the largest tennis clubs in Lincolnshire, with over 370 members that share the use of 7 all-weather courts with Stamford School.

The 14-year-old lighting system that was originally in place at the courts were power hungry sodium floodlights that offered very low colour rendition and overall quality of light to the courts. This meant that tracking the ball when in play was proving difficult for the court users.

The Requirement:

Graham Winestone, Stamford Tennis Club House Manager, was passionate about finding a unique, long-term, sustainable solution that would improve lighting levels over the court areas in a joint resurfacing revamp project.

The challenge that was brought to the Prolite Projects team was how to raise the LUX levels significantly above the old system to achieve the required LTA lighting level standards.

After a full site evaluation, light modelling and initial site testing, the Prolite Projects team carefully selected multiple, highly efficient LED Sport products from the Prolite range to recommend for installation at the site.

These luminaires combine highly efficient, high output LED’s with state-of-the-art asymmetric lensing to prevent both upward light spillage as well as glare on the courts.

The Solution:

Once the fittings had been approved an installation plan was devised by the Prolite Projects team to help minimise disruption to the club’s operational times. This plan included the critical setup process of the light heads, optimising light levels for the courts ongoing.
The final results met and exceeded expectations. The LUX on the PPA was improved by more than double from 247 LUX to over 570 LUX (within the PPA areas) and the high quality white light provided creates a much better environment for players.

I would definitely recommend Ritelite’s Prolite Projects team to any clubs who are considering upgrading their lighting system. They develop productive relationships with customers and deliver to time, cost and specification.

Babington Community College

Babington Community College are a specialist sports college located in Leicester that strive to be the best that they can be, aspiring to success. They were looking for a 3-year maintenance free solution for their sports block, including external car park areas, gymnasium, walkways and their specialist Badminton court area.

Overview:

The lighting system already in place used a mixture of power hungry fluorescent, metal halide and sodium lighting units. These needed frequent maintenance and the light levels for the Badminton court area were below specifications set out by Sport England.

Sport England are a national governing body that the college were proud to promote adhering to their rigorous specification criteria of everything from wall colours, flooring materials all the way through to light unit positions to light levels at task level for the sport.

The Requirement:

The client was passionate about finding a unique, sustainable, long term solution. Not only must it offer an increased high quality light level, it also needed to adhere to their policy of reducing their carbon footprint. Prolite LED lighting was the obvious choice.

The lights needed to offer a strong return on investment, reduce maintenance costs, have a high illumination level, a low energy usage and have minimal recycling costs.

Before LED

The Solution:

After a site evaluation, the Prolite technical team advised several different cutting edge LED lighting products from the range. The life expectancy of the new lighting system will vastly reduce maintenance costs for the college as replacement will not be required for at least 5 years.

In total, 250 units were installed across the college. Unlike some other LED lighting systems currently available, Prolite’s LED products simplified the process of upgrading luminaries with minimal inconvenience to the colleges working day.

With unmatched solid state technology from Prolite, the revolutionary designs of product reduced power consumption, maintenance costs, disposal costs and increased the light output across all critical areas too.

Dougie’s Cafe & Bistro

Dougie’s Cafe & Bistro

Dougie’s Cafe & Bistro

The Requirement:

Dougie’s is a family owned café by day and bistro restaurant during the evenings. The restaurant has large windows which does allow a lot of natural light but, given the buildings placement and low ceilings, there is not enough natural light even in the daytime. Dougie’s challenged the Prolite Lamps team to improve the lighting in the restaurant without changing any of the existing fittings but overall offering an energy saving from the current lighting design.

The Solution:

To begin with the Prolite Lamps team replaced the energy hungry halogen lamps in the GU10 and spotlight fittings with warm White GU10 lamps. This, in addition to the natural light, gave the café a bright and welcoming dining area for daytime visitors.

Evenings at Dougie’s required an entirely difference atmosphere and Prolite’s coloured LED and Funky Filament LED lighting solutions were perfect for a completely transformative effect. The high power orange GU10’s, which are excellent for decorative applications, provided a truly vivid static colour which really complimented the warmth of the restaurant. The owner, Kirk, was pleasantly pleased at how the addition of high power orange GU10 lamps to the alcove area which is quite a difficult area to light, really helped the area stand out.

The owner really wanted to highlight the cozy areas of the restaurant, so we used a selection of decorative lamps in each area. The corner armchair looked so inviting with Prolite’s SES 4W Candle Lamps in the mother and child lamp fitting creating a great evening ambiance.

High power Magenta GU10s over the bar area helped accentuate the transition from daytime café into restaurant night life and the owner is looking forward to using these during the Christmas season.

Prolite’s Funky Filament G90 and smoked filament globes looked fantastic dotted around the restaurant. The spiral filament and smoked glass of these globes look spectacular in displays and accent lighting in many bars and restaurants.

The results were fantastic and the owner was really pleased with the suggestions the team made.

Ritelite were so helpful and gave me a variety of options to enhance my restaurant for both daytime and evening service. I was especially pleased with the effects of the coloured GU10’s in Orange and in Magenta, however I decided on the Orange lamps. My restaurant floor is part of a traditional cottage style, listed building and is therefore, a difficult lighting space. The ceilings are low and there are wooden beams across the whole shop, so it is important to try and accentuate the space of the room. The new orange GU10’s and the various decorative filament lamps really bring the atmosphere to life and enhance the warm and cozy ambience that I wanted to support my menu and style.

Grantham Town Christmas Tree 2019

Grantham Town Christmas Tree 2019

Overview:

Prolite’s range of G95 Starry Lamps are a perfect solution for easy and mesmerizing decorative lighting. These lamps contain a string of flashing LED’s inside the 95mm polycarbonate globe lamp. The flashing LED’s create an awesome funky starry effect, ideal for creating accent lighting, in hotels, bars, restaurants and shops as well as in homes. The polycarbonate lens makes this perfect outdoor use as there is no risk of broken glass. They would create a fantastic atmosphere on a festoon, lighting up beer gardens, marquees, festivals as well as patios.
During the run up to Christmas in 2019, we supplied Edmundson Electrical Grantham with a selection of G95 Lamps to decorate the Grantham Town Christmas Tree. This project was a huge success and the tree looked bright & festive.

The G95’s will make fantastic decorations for the festive season ahead. They are suitable for applications such as Christmas trees / indoor & outdoor festoon / domestic or commercial uses.

The lamps used on this job, provided by Ritelite tick all the boxes. They are well made, and the lamps give off a brilliant “sparkle effect”, and they are perfect for use in festoon lighting due to the material. Unless you had a hammer, you will not be breaking one of these. They’re that good I’ve even bought a couple for my house!
