Grimsthorpe Castle’s New Car Park

Grimsthorpe Castle’s New Car Park

Prolite’s New Solar Lights illuminate Grimsthorpe Castle’s new car park ready for the start of the season.

The Requirement:

The Prolite Project team have recently been involved in the design and installation of solar lighting to illuminate the new car park at Grimsthorpe Castle, Lincolnshire.

During the 2020 season when Grimsthorpe Castle, park and gardens was unable to open due to the Covid-19 pandemic the team at Grimsthorpe worked hard on improving the visitor experience when visiting during the open season. Part of this new plan was to establish a larger car park to support the growing number of visitors that the Castle receives annually as well as events in the Castle’s grounds.

Following the success of the work that Prolite did illuminating the interior and exterior of the castle Grimsthorpe Castle – Prolite Lamps (prolite-lamps.co.uk) the Prolite team was once again consulted for advice on the car park lighting.

The Solution:

Initially the plan was to install mains powered lighting. However, the costs of doing this were prohibitive, so the Prolite team designed a system of solar powered lighting for the whole car park area using Prolite’s new 15W high efficiency solar light system that produces over 3000 lumens per fitting.

The solar lighting system was installed with beam control optics to minimise light pollution onto the nearby road whilst optimally illuminating the whole car park area. An internet based control system is available to manage the levels of illumination required and the times at which the lights operate. As with all Prolite Projects the team completed a full lighting design of the car part to confirm LUX levels post installation prior to the project going ahead ensuring that the Grimsthorpe Castle management would be happy with the end result.

The March Hare Tearooms

The March Hare Tearooms

The March Hare Tearooms

The Requirement:

The Prolite Lamps project team have recently assisted the new owner, Amy Roberts, of the March Hare at the Pantry Café in Corby Glen, Lincolnshire with a lighting makeover.

When Amy took over the business in the Autumn of 2018 the lighting was a mixture of fluorescent strip light fittings left over from when the building was a doctors surgery and other odd lights that had been added at different times.

Amy wanted to create a much softer lighting effect that was more in keeping with a café environment yet also interesting to add to the quirkiness of the March Hare theme.

The Solution:

Through the installation of a mixture of Prolite lamps including 4 Giant Funky Filament PS160 Smoked lamps the Café has been transformed. The cozy corner is now much more relaxing and the main café is much more attractive to customers visiting.

Amy and her team are thrilled with the results and have had plenty of positive feedback from their regulars who have seen the transformation take place.

Thank you to Ritelite’s Prolite Lamps team for transforming The March Hare Tearooms. We had the old fashioned striplights and we needed direction to make the tearooms lighting softer, energy efficient and give it a sparkle. From strip lights to a mixture of stunning hanging lights and bright bulbs for a chandler it’s made the tearooms exactly what we were looking for. We now run much more efficiently so saving money too is always a winning combination. Thank you to Laura Hazlewood for her time and amazing advice as I had no idea where to start!

Paten & Co

Paten & Co

Paten & Co, Stamford

The Requirement:

After seeing our Funky filament LED Light bulbs, Knead Pubs asked if we could provide advice and product options to fit some unique fittings that had been collected by the proprietor.

The Solution:

One of our lighting specialists viewed the site during the building and renovation process. After seeing the fittings, we were able to specify some decorative and functional LED options that were in keeping with the aesthetics of the Paten & Co Venue yet offered the proprietors an energy saving from traditional wattage light bulbs.
Ritelite helped us source some unique lamps to add amazing lighting effects to our pub Paten & Co after our proprietor found some vintage and industrial light fittings. They were full of knowledge and good suggestions, directing us to the right solution for our venue.

Dougie’s Cafe & Bistro

Dougie’s Cafe & Bistro

Dougie’s Cafe & Bistro

The Requirement:

Dougie’s is a family owned café by day and bistro restaurant during the evenings. The restaurant has large windows which does allow a lot of natural light but, given the buildings placement and low ceilings, there is not enough natural light even in the daytime. Dougie’s challenged the Prolite Lamps team to improve the lighting in the restaurant without changing any of the existing fittings but overall offering an energy saving from the current lighting design.

The Solution:

To begin with the Prolite Lamps team replaced the energy hungry halogen lamps in the GU10 and spotlight fittings with warm White GU10 lamps. This, in addition to the natural light, gave the café a bright and welcoming dining area for daytime visitors.

Evenings at Dougie’s required an entirely difference atmosphere and Prolite’s coloured LED and Funky Filament LED lighting solutions were perfect for a completely transformative effect. The high power orange GU10’s, which are excellent for decorative applications, provided a truly vivid static colour which really complimented the warmth of the restaurant. The owner, Kirk, was pleasantly pleased at how the addition of high power orange GU10 lamps to the alcove area which is quite a difficult area to light, really helped the area stand out.

The owner really wanted to highlight the cozy areas of the restaurant, so we used a selection of decorative lamps in each area. The corner armchair looked so inviting with Prolite’s SES 4W Candle Lamps in the mother and child lamp fitting creating a great evening ambiance.

High power Magenta GU10s over the bar area helped accentuate the transition from daytime café into restaurant night life and the owner is looking forward to using these during the Christmas season.

Prolite’s Funky Filament G90 and smoked filament globes looked fantastic dotted around the restaurant. The spiral filament and smoked glass of these globes look spectacular in displays and accent lighting in many bars and restaurants.

The results were fantastic and the owner was really pleased with the suggestions the team made.

Ritelite were so helpful and gave me a variety of options to enhance my restaurant for both daytime and evening service. I was especially pleased with the effects of the coloured GU10’s in Orange and in Magenta, however I decided on the Orange lamps. My restaurant floor is part of a traditional cottage style, listed building and is therefore, a difficult lighting space. The ceilings are low and there are wooden beams across the whole shop, so it is important to try and accentuate the space of the room. The new orange GU10’s and the various decorative filament lamps really bring the atmosphere to life and enhance the warm and cozy ambience that I wanted to support my menu and style.
